Captain Jim Maccoun's Crime Reports

This information is provided so you can have a timely snapshot of significant events in our community. It is my intention to list suspect apprehensions and crimes of interest (i.e., robberies, assaults, burglaries, homicides), traffic enforcement efforts, and conditions caused by natural events (flooding, road closures, etc.) You may share this information with your fellow community members. The crimes reported here are preliminary investigations, taken in the field by patrol officers, and may or may not be assigned to a Detective for further investigation.

In an emergency, always call the police before calling security services. Both will respond immediately, but the police can respond with more resources and authority than a security service can. (An emergency is a situation which poses an immediate risk to health, life, property or environment that requires immediate action to prevent a worsening of the situation.) If possible, call both police and security.

----------
PHONE NUMBERS YOU SHOULD HAVE IN YOUR CELL:
911 calls from your cell phone are routed through CHP before SacPD or fire. To avoid delays, program these into your cell phone:

EMERGENCY:
Sac PD 732-0100 when you are in town, continue to use 911 if you are on the highway
Sac Fire/Medical 228-3000
(911 from a land line still works, of course)

NON-EMERGENCY:
Sac PD 264-5471
Sac Fire/Medical 433-1300

PALADIN PRIVATE SECURITY:
(for the communities they serve) 331-3175
In an emergency, call police before security services. See note above regarding emergencies.

Even in non-emergency situations, be sure to report ALL suspicious activity to the police non-emergency number; the reports get logged in a database which is used by city leaders to determine police budgets and resource allocation. If the database shows no calls for service, then they assume there's no crime!

Remember to always let someone know you are home when they are knocking or ringing the door bell. Always look out for your neighborhood and call in ALL suspicious activity!

If you observe a crime in progress call 9-1-1.
If you have information regarding some of the above crimes please call Crime Alert at 443-HELP or 1-800-AA-CRIME. (You can remain anonymous)

GET CASH FOR QUALIFIED CRIME TIPS:
You can receive a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of a suspect or information that solves an unsolved crime. Check the wanted suspect list and submit tips at http://www.crimealert.org/ or call (916) 443-HELP(4357)

I have attached recent robbery and burglary information in a little different format this week. We had some burglaries where suspects stole firearms, no indications that the suspects knew/targeted the victims for the weapons. Note to firearm owners: please record/store your serial numbers in a safe place, and most importantly please secure your weapons when you are not home! Too many times a resident has returned home to face a criminal armed with their own weapon. Leading source of "crime guns" is still weapons stolen from the home.
